I'm going to have to put together a new box sometime soon 'cause between Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC things just keep getting slower........
I've been reading about the various current Intel CPUs and wondered what the best reasonably high-end processor would be? Is the 5820K going to provide
SIGNIFICANTLY better performance than a 4790K?
Likewise, is the DDR4 memory going to provide a SIGNIFICANT improvement in throughput for PS and LR?
Is the difference in the number of PCI Express Lanes (16 for the 4790 vs 28 for the 5820 and 40 for the 5930) significantly useful for PS or LSR or is it just
for using more than 1 graphics card (which I presume I won't need to do for PS and LR)
The 4790 has built-in 4600 graphics processor built-in, but is it MORE THAN adequate for driving two large monitors at full resolution for PS and LR?
The 5820 has six cores versus the 4 for the 4790 and is unlocked so it can be overclocked. I don't much care if the thing melts down in 5 years because
it's overclocked instead of lasting 10, but how much speed can I get out of this thing with just an air cooler (I'm not doing water cooling just for Photoshop)...
Thoughts? Any other processors that would be better - WITHOUT costing $600 or more just for a CPU chip.....
