Hey guys! I'm looking to buy a new computer for editing using Adobe Premiere CC. I'm not the most knowledgeable person regarding hardware, but I have had a great deal of experience with Premiere in the computer lab where I graduated at SUNY Oswego. I'm also a casual PC gamer, so I'm interested in a decent (but not high end) gaming laptop as well.
Anywho, here's the laptop I was looking at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FS4UNG4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1LZN 806TROZ37#customerReviews
The processor, RAM and graphics all look pretty solid as far as I can tell.
- AMD Quad-Core A10-5757M Accelerated Processor 2.5GHz (up to 3.5GHz)
- 6 GB DDR3 RAM
- 750 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
- 15.6-Inch Screen, AMD Radeon HD 8650G Graphics
My biggest concern is the hard drive RPM. On Adobe's page, it recommends 7200 RPM, but as you can see this ACER only has 5400. I guess my question is, how significant of an issue would this be for editing? My current laptop is extremely problematic when editing - it lags almost every single time I pause/play a clip and skips what seems like 10 frames every second at least. This, obviously, makes it very difficult to watch the footage smoothly and efficiently, and severely hinders my editing ability.
On top of the RPM, is there anything else that looks like a red flag to you guys? I'm not the wealthiest college graduate, so I'm really hoping to stay in this price range.
Thanks so much guys, I really appreciate it!
