My photos are missing from LR. I've read all the forums, tried the fixes, and nothing works. Ready to dump LR.

I've read the advice columns on getting the photos back into LR.  I've right clicked and left clicked.  I've located and searched.  My photos are still missing in action.  I am ready to dump LR after many many years of using it.  I operate Windows 8 on an HP laptop.
